Apple Invites on iPhone, iPad, and Mac
There’s a new free service from Apple available to Apple device users, Apple Invites. Apple Invites is designed to be accessible across the Apple ecosystem, though the experience varies slightly by device:
• The iPhone – The Invites app is designed for the iPhone. Download it from the App Store to use it.
• The iPad – Although there’s not a specific iPad version of the app, the iPhone app functions on the iPad, scaling to utilize most of an 11″ screen.
• The Mac – Mac users don’t get a standalone app, but Apple Invites is accessible via iCloud.com. It includes the Apple Invite app, but it doesn’t include the stock background images available on the iPhone and iPad.

Seamless Integration with Apple Apps for a Smooth Experience
A core strength of Apple Invites is its deep integration with other Apple services, which allows it to produce professional, functional invitations for all kinds of events.
It accesses Apple Calendar for dates, Contacts for invitee names and addresses, Apple Maps for directions, Apple Photos for background photos and shared photo albums, and Apple Music for shared playlists.
Once you set up the invitation, you can send it by message, email, link, etc. You don’t have to own an Apple device to receive and respond to an invitation.

Getting Started with Apple Invites: Setup and First Impressions
The application is designed to be intuitive, and it includes features such as background selection, event naming, date/time specification, location setup (including Apple Maps integration), shared photo album integration, and playlist functionality.
Finding the invite button isn’t as intuitive as you’d expect. Instead of being front and center, it’s tucked behind the ‘Preview’ and ‘Next’ buttons in the top right. It took me a while to figure this out—maybe I was just being dense, but a clearer label would have helped.
I used it the week of Valentine’s Day to invite my wife to a surprise “Valentine’s Day Celebration.” I named the event and wrote a short note (A time to celebrate our love and life together! Pack an overnight bag when we go to the library on Thursday morning). She was delighted to receive the invitation and replied, writing a short note in response. Based on this positive experience, I plan on using Apple Invites in the future.
Why Use Apple Invites? Key Features and Benefits
Apple Invites presents a more polished and visually appealing alternative to plain text messages or email invitations. Instead of just sending a plain text message or an email, you can format an invitation with color and graphics, making it more like an authentic invitation card.
In addition, using Apple Invites has added benefits such as:
• Provides real-time tracking of guest responses.
• Sends notifications to remind participants of the event.
• Offers the ability to personalize invitations with stock backgrounds or user-uploaded photos.
Final Thoughts: A Small Learning Curve, Big Benefits
Despite a small learning curve, Apple Invites is a fantastic addition to the Apple ecosystem.
It makes event planning easier, adds a polished touch to invitations, and integrates seamlessly with other Apple apps. I used it last week to invite my wife to a surprise Valentine’s Day celebration—and it worked like a charm. Try it the next time you plan an event and see if it works for you.
When I post links to product pages on Amazon, my links include a referral code so that when products are purchased after clicking on the link, I sometimes receive a very small percentage of the sale. While the amount that I receive is small, it does help to defray some of the cost of running this site and gives me a small vested interest in having readers of OriginalMacGuy.com purchase products using these links. That said, I do my best to only include links to products I believe are worth buying.
